32 Surfers Joint Padang-Padang Surfing 2011


32 surfers will participate on Surfing Ripcurl Cup Padang-Padang 2011 on July 10th until the early August 2011 in Padang-Padang Beach, Pecatu Village, Badung, Bali. The Public Relation of Surfing Padang-Padang 2011 Competition, Ivona in Pecatu on Sunday said this activity followed by 32 persons, 16 of them are foreigners and the rest of them are Indonesian.
“Most of foreign participants are professional surfers while Indonesian participants should ready to face hard challenge,” said him. The foreign participants are Jamie O’Brien, Kalane Chapman, Flynn Novak dan Makala Jones from Hawaii. Further it also followed by Chris Ward (United States), Luke Srendman (Australia) Morehu Roberts (New Zealand) and Bruno Santos (Brazil). The Balinese participants are Garut Widiarta, Pepen Hendrik, Made Merta while Oney Anwar (Sumbawa) and Dede Suryana (West Java).
Garut Widiarta said the hard challenge comes from Australia and Hawaii surfers who have been usual to play with hard wave. “I am trying to perform my best on the wave,” said Widiarta. He said if Padang-Padang serves heavy field due to its rocky condition. The inconsistent wave could suddenly break their play. “Sometimes Padang-Padang wave is extreme but sometimes it does not have wave at all,” said him. Ivona added this championship holds for a long time as it starts on July 10th until the early August 2011 due to it is waiting a big wave. “We cannot predict big wave so the competition holds in a long period,” said him. This surfing competition grabbed US$10,000, charter, and souvenir plate from the sponsor.
